C. J. Fang, an artist who enjoys painting, printmaking, and other media of art, was a senior journalist who writes, writes, and writes. After discovering her passion for art, she took on brushes in place of pens. To acquire the knowledge and skills that good artwork demands, she enrolled in the Department of Fine Art at Purdue, from which she received her M.A. degree.
Academic training, however, was not the only source that nurtures her creativity. Her works are also inspired by nature and the ever-changing universe. An ecological view of life and cosmologically attuned living style, deeply rooted in Chinese ancient wisdom, has characterized her worldview. Chinese rich tradition has given her a solid foundation, upon which her art world is built and from which her ideas derive.
She is not only rich in idea but also in style and expression. Working with various media, she finds ways to express herself through the language of each art medium. Her art language consists of a big variety of art dialects, such as oil painting, printmaking, pastel drawing, and watercolor. From “Buddha Series," the “Tea Set Series," to the latest “Orchid Series," all these topics for life have spoken her mind, as well as the world surround her. Topics for life reveal her genuine personality and a subtle taste for life. With her minimalistic approach to artmaking, her works hum a tune of tranquil beauty.
