課程目的
地球表面大部分的區域皆為沈積物以及沈積岩所覆蓋，這些沈積岩來自更早前的各種不同的岩石，在沈積過程中這些岩石記錄了地球當時的一些狀況，所以，沈積岩可以說是地球的歷史記錄。 本課程的目的即為使修課學生了解並解讀地球的歷史記錄。
