Prof. Yuan-Ron Ma
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the holy is understanding. (Proverbs 9:10)

The navigational microscopy laboratory at Department of Physics, National Dong Hwa University, Taiwan, hereby declares a few PhD positions in nanoscience and nanotechnology to be open for application immediately.

We can provide:

- excellent research environment

- versatile interesting topics

- free communication and internet

- scientific skills and training

- local and international conferences

The navigational microscopy laborator is focusing on three subjects: (i) synthesis and analysis of 1D and 2D metal and metal-oxide nanostructures; (ii) local anodic oxidation using atomic force microscopy (AFM); (iii) Direct observations of macromolecules scanning tunneling microscopy (STM); (iv) nanomagnetism studies.

Applications, who are communicative experimental physicists with strong backgrounds in condensed matter physics, surface sciences, and material sciences, are strongly encouraged to apply for the PhD position. Applications are strongly motivated to work in a highly interdisciplinary area. Applications, who are familiar with varying techniques in various deposition methods of thin-films and nanostructures, microanalysis in spectroscopy (Raman and PL), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), scanning probe microscopy (SPM), and related fields, are most welcome. Excellent English communication skills (speaking and writing) are required.

Scholarship (or financial aid) is available for outstanding highly-motivated candidates from abroad, who hold a master degree in solid state (or condensed matter) physics or related fields. The scholarship granted to a PhD student for the first academic year includes the tuition waiver and a yearly stipend of 168000 NT dollars. For the second and third years, PhD students have to apply with school reports for renewal of scholarship. For further information, please contact: Prof. Yuan-Ron Ma <ronma@mail.ndhu.edu.tw>.

Potential candidates should prepare and e-mail a CV with a list of references and publication to <ronma@mail.ndhu.edu.tw>

Application closing date: September 2nd, 2011.
