(Goals of the course):
The main objective of this course is for you to learn how to think critically about issues relating to environmental economics outside the well-established standards found in mainstream economic theory. At the end of this semester, hopefully you should be able to perceive the right and wrong of economic rationale for government involvement in environmental issues, and be able to discuss what the impact of such rationale and involvement will be. In particular, it is hoped that the class will provide you with a better understanding of current issues relating to the environment.
(Exam and Report):
Two take-home exam: midterm and final
One final oral and written report: your own mini-paper or summary and critique
(Grading):
Your grade in this course will be based on participation in class discussions (10%), midterm and final take-home exam (30% each), and the final oral and written report (30%).
The take home quizzes will be posted online (here), and due the following class meeting. They will focus on applications of the material discussed in class, and will be in the form of short problem or essay questions.
